THE TENDER BURN OF HERBS HEATED BY THE SUN.
In 1774, Michel Adam, a perfumer-glovemaker originally from Versailles, opened a shop in Paris which he named “À la Reine des Fleurs.” Success was immediate, particularly among the court of King Louis XVI. That same year, he created his first eau de Cologne, named after the shop: “Eau de Cologne de la Reine des Fleurs.” Adopted by Marie-Antoinette, it quickly became a staple of the court. The formula was revisited in 1874, for the house’s centenary, preserved ever since, and is offered today.
